'David After Dentist' Video Nets Family $150K

Of those licensing deals, the one with the highest profile was certainly the Vizio commercial aired during the Super Bowl, but David DeVore hasn't been shy about selling the likeness of his heavily medicated son. In fact, a recent deal will result in a line of 'David' scrubs for dentists. During his interview with Business Insider, DeVore even took the opportunity to openly court Crest and Colgate for a sponsorship deal.
The original video still draws over 100,000 viewers a day, and the family has every intention of continuing to milk their son's viral celebrity for all it's worth. It should be said that the family hasn't been greedy with their new earnings, having donated several thousand dollars to their church, David's school, a local dentist and Operation Smile, a charity for treating children's facial deformities. The younger David, for his part, is simply trying to live life as a regular nine-year old, but we've got a feeling he'll never live down that infamous dentist visit. Welcome to the age of YouTube, kid. [From: Business Insider, via: Gawker]

Good for them. He seems like a great little guy and I wish him, and them, the best of luck.
I really laughed when watching this, it's great how a kid's mind works!
Thanks David, and David too.
LOL

Great UTube, however did anybody think what the consequences could be with a young boy at this age be promoted by the medicines given by his dentist.
If I would never promote the stupidity of these parents exploiting there son for $150 K or more. I would like to see his progress in his teens and twenties. Hopefully he will be taught that being high on these medications is not a reflection on wanting to get high like that later on.
Concerned Parent...and this is stupid!

Since when did 150K become 1/2 a million?
sbcoonJun 30th 2010 11:27PM

Thank you David & Family! This is a wonderful example of how Web2 can bring us closer by taking the sting out of a freared experience. Seeing is believing! Even kid who has to face the dentist should be allowed to drift off to David's open, honest experiences. Definately one of a million points of light that we can share with eachother.

As if humiliating your son while he's in such a vulnerable state isn't payment enough, you now want to bilk it for all it's worth.
The boy's parents are both worthless.

I hope we hear that his parents set aside a good amount for college, when this kid is 18.
What I don't understand, is "how" they got the video so clear and steady.
Oh well. Hey, why was this kid at the dentist? I hope it wasn't for cavities. Just sayin'...
Funny anyway.

Boring. Yay, another annoying kid.
Nice that he got all that cash, though, good for the college fund. :)

Ahhhhh. The wonders of YouTube. Anything is possible. I wonder how this embarrassing experience will affect this kids development. Not that the parents seem to care. M.O.E.= Money Over Everything. Dumb moe-moes.
