Making Wireless Networks Visible, Gmail's One-Click Word Doc Preview

wireless in the world
There's a load of great tech news happening out there every day, and, unfortunately, we just can't cover it all. Here are a few of the other noteworthy things we saw today on our never-ending journey through the wild, wild Web.
  • Timo Arnall's short video 'Wireless in the World 2' visualizes the spread of wireless networks in our cities, public spaces and homes by overlaying a dotted circle wherever bits and bytes are circulating. [From: Vimeo]
  • Gmail introduced a new one-click preview of Word documents, saving you the effort of having to slow your computer to a crawl just to look at text. Score one for Google. [From: ReadWriteWeb]
  • BoingBoing's Mark Frauenfelder spoke with Jesse Thorn, host of the excellent Sound of Young America interview program. A home studio producer, Thorn detailed his audio setup, which includes a Mackie Onyx 1620 mixer, Adobe Audition 3 on a PC, and a Drobo hard-drive backup. [From: BoingBoing]
  • Switched writer Tim Stevens documents two days at last week's E3 with a life-blogging camera that snaps a photo every 30 seconds. Note the lack of sleep. [From: Engadget]
