Apple's Prejudice Surfaces With iPhone 4, Facebook Mysteriously Blocks Twitter App

iPhone's Left-handed Bias

Highlights from this morning's other big tech headlines....
  • Extremity-bias typically materializes in the form of southpaw prejudice, as lefties frequently bemoan the frustrating faults of can-openers, scissors and subway turnstiles. Apple may actually employ a crew of vengeful left-handed developers, though, because the layout of its iPhone 4 apparently contributes to an inordinate amount of dropped calls when it's used in the left hand -- the favored position of righties. • Apple favoritism apparently now applies to color, as well. Because of purported manufacturing challenges, white iPhone 4s won't be available until the "second half of July," although black models are readily available. [From: Engadget]
  • Earlier this week, Mark Zuckerberg admitted to Inside Facebook that he initially felt threatened by Twitter's cataclysmic social networking rise, but now believes he "paid too much attention" to the site because its "growth rate was kind of unnatural." Recent actions belie that dismissive attitude, though, as his site has apparently -- for unknown reasons -- blocked an update to Twitter's popular Facebook 'Friend Finder' app. A Facebook statement claims, "We are working with Twitter to resolve the issue." [From: The Telegraph]
  • Naive and lackadaisical social networkers seem determined to facilitate criminal activity by publicly and specifically broadcasting vacations and departures from home. Facebook could soon make life even easier for snooping social networking thieves, because the site's development of location-based technology is apparently nearing completion. Facebook hopes to integrate the service with advertisers, such as McDonald's, but founder Mark Zuckerberg -- in a familiar refrain -- also accepts that the site's "challenge is to make a safe, secure environment for users to share." • San Francisco lawmakers have completed the city's next step toward implementing a cell phone radiation warning label. Mayor Gavin Newsom recently announced his support of the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) sticker plan, and yesterday the city's Board of Supervisors overwhelmingly voted, 10 to one, in favor of the ordinance.
