Google Voice Finally Available for Everyone

Google Voice
Google launched its Voice program more than a year ago, but the company then granted access only to an enviable group of lucky invitees. The search engine subsequently and systematically unveiled new Voice features, and invited more participants, but still forced the general public to plead and grovel for inclusion. Those neglected, ignored and forlorn masses need wait no longer, though (as long as they're in the U.S.), because Google has finally lifted its Voice blockade.

In an official blog statement, Google proclaimed, "Today, after lots of testing and tweaking, we're excited to open up Google Voice to the public, no invitation required." The demolition of the Voice wall lets everyone investigate the service's diverse features, which include phone number unification, voicemail transcription, and free calls and text messages within the United States. For detailed information, a helpful instruction video, and an amusing graph that charts the 200-year-old history of telecommunications (suspiciously culminating in Google Voice), check out the Google Blog.
