BeautifulPeople.com's Final Solution: Breed Out the Uglies

beuatiful people with spermYou may remember awful Net clique BeautifulPeople.com and its purge of overweight members back in January. To refresh your memory, Beautiful People is a social network that votes members in (and out) based on their attractiveness, as determined by other members. When those allegedly svelte surfers got rid of 5,000 "fatties" who were deemed too un-sexable to remain on the site, they were met with no small amount of criticism.

But, fine, it's a vapid network of self-obsessed jerk-holes that, besides bruising the egos of members who were obviously so emotionally wrecked by their body image that they would join the site in the first place, has otherwise done no harm. Now, though, Beautiful People is launching an egg and sperm donation bank to be filled with its members' statuesque genetic material for furthering a race of chiseled chins and pore-less skin. Hey, you guys ever heard of this thing called eugenics?

Managing Director Greg Hodge told Mashable, "There are no financial benefits for us in doing so - we are simply responding to a demand for attractive donors. Every parent would like their child to be blessed with many fine attributes, attractiveness being one of the most sought after. For a site with members who resemble Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Angelina Jolie, you can imagine the demand." You don't have to be a member to check out a sample of the members on the site, but we think Hodge might have astigmatism if he thinks these people look like Dr. Doug Ross.

But despair not, uglies. Even if you're too snaggle-toothed to get voted into the membership, you can still repair your hunchbacked genetic lineage by signing up to receive pretty sperm. The Bill Gates of our time need only be a nightmarish memory when we could have a world full of Heidi Montag and Katy Perry übermenschen. And now, having written that, we're going to set ourselves on fire. [From: Mashable]
