Chatroulette: Now With More Chat, Less Wang
Upon its unveiling, These exhibitionists initially seemed no more threatening or prevalent than the rest of the Web's deviants, but, with few restrictions or regulations, the site's platform inspired significant safety concerns in parents. Somewhat ironically, a teenager actually created Chatroulette, a site which now ranks among the most inappropriate and undesirable online destinations for, well, anyone who doesn't want to face a deluge of gonads. To continue combating the phenomenon, that teen, Andrey Ternovskiy, has reportedly hatched a new plan to pull the plug on the penis party.
According to Tech Crunch, "the [new] service may add software that can quickly scan video to determine if a penis is being shown." The site could also flag those chatters that other viewers consistently flee. (But what about those of us who just happen to be miserably bored?) Now, the amazing advent of peter-pinpointing certainly surprises us, but -- just with like with other tracking software -- someone will inevitably devise a method to subvert those pesky member maskers. What is chatroulette?

Hey APV,
It's live video chat service that randomly pairs people. After giving it a whirl a few months ago, Amar Toor wrote that, "A great deal of the experiences, of course, are bizarre, perverted, and downright depressing. A few, though, end up being strangely enjoyable, even if they last only a few, fleeting seconds -- a dancing old man here, a card trick there, and, of course, the occasional meaningful conversation."

And, here's a link to the actual site (you'll need a webcam to participate): http://www.chatroulette.com/
