Unreleased Soundgarden Song to Debut on 'Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock'
Gone are the days when a band used radio or TV to hype a new release. Now, it's video games that create chart-topping records. According to Rolling Stone, Activision announced Monday at E3 that an unreleased Soundgarden track entitled 'Black Rain' will debut on 'Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock.' When the game is released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii on September 28th, it will mark the first Soundgarden single released in 13 years. Aside from featuring an unreleased tune from the '90s rock band, Activision's latest installment in the 'Guitar Hero' series will also feature songs by Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Kiss and Anthrax. That's a heavy lineup, and according to Videogamer.com, the plot will match it by telling a story about rock musicians gathering to battle evil forces with loud guitars.Judging by what we know so far, it looks like Activision could be taking its 'Guitar Hero' series in a new direction. Does this heavier rock lineup signal the future, or is it just a one-time venture for the video game developer? We hope for the former, because if we have to hear our roommate play a song by The Police one more time, we might smash that plastic guitar into a thousand pieces.
