Couple Weds Via iPad, Apocalypse Inches Closer

As Gizmodo reports, one happily married couple recently had the geektastic idea of conducting their entire wedding (i.e., the most important day of their lives) with an iPad. As you can see in this video, appropriately titled 'iPad Wedding,' the officiant reads out the vows from his own iPad, after which the groom says "I do" by updating his Facebook and Twitter status from his iPhone. Cue the chorus of knowing chuckles.
Now, this certainly isn't the first crazy nerd wedding we've seen, but it may very well be the dumbest. We're not saying that having a robot preside over your special day isn't dumb, but at least it takes some serious effort to pull off, and you can be pretty sure that no one else will have a wedding day quite like yours. And besides, that robo-wedding was in Japan. Robots outnumber cockroaches over there.
Seriously, guys. We know the iPad's really great and everything (and perhaps the lack of multi-tasking capabilities made it even easier for the officiator to focus more intently on his vows), but did you really have to call the thing an 'iPad wedding'?' Do you really want to instantly think of Steve Jobs when you look back on your wedding day 20 years from now? It may be old-fashioned, but we've always thought that the stars of any wedding should be the people getting married -- not the latest iFad. [From: Gizmodo; via: Geekosystem]
