'Like' Button Worm Weaseling Through Facebook

If you do, you'll be directed to a blank page, with a simple message reading, 'Click here to continue.' In fact, clicking anywhere on the page will plant the same link on your Facebook profile, with your own thumbs-up next to it, and the entire process starts again. Sophos has reportedly detected that user pages are being infected by Troj/lframe-ET, and points out that this current worm is spreading in much the same way that the 'Fbhole' virus permeated the network last month. What makes this particular outbreak so unique, though, is that it's not entirely unbelievable. As Sophos mentions, these kinds of stories or links are exactly the kinds of thing most people would like on Facebook, thus rendering them much less suspicious than, say, a 'Sexiest Video' link. But with a little bit of caution and second-guessing (plus following some ground rules), you'll be able to avoid temptation, no matter how harmless it may seem. [From: Sophos]

That same one got me, too! It asked me to download some player to my laptop, so i didn't. But did I still get the virus? Nothing showed up on my page, but I saw it on numerous friends' pages.

AOL beats themselves stupid trying to post anti-FB articles... the fact that they're about three weeks after the fact with this is no surprise.
SallyJun 2nd 2010 8:59AM
OK, so I clicked on" like". What do I do now? How would I know if I got the virus? And how can I get rid of it if I did?
pootJun 2nd 2010 11:26AM

"Attorneys advise users of Facebook and other social media who are headed toward a divorce or custody battle to edit their profiles, be cautious about updating statuses and double check to see who is really a "friend." --- from CNN article @@ Also, remember to clean up your social media pages before you go job hunting.

...just stop using it? If you don't use it, nothing can happen. Best guess, however, is that you got that virus someplace else.
mmadamsJun 3rd 2010 4:58PM
I conducted a search on how to delete my profile and came up with a link to do so. You have to be sure not to use the account w/in 10 days of deleting it or it will reactivate.

You want to hear something funny? The guy who used to be the head of security for Face book is now trying to be Attorney General in California. I'm sure he will get elected, because California is like a bowl of Granola, What are not flakes or fruit, are nuts!

AOL is suffering from a disease, a sick obsession on Facebook, wide hips and sick people. AOL continues to publish rubbish that annoys people, and did you think one would read such junk? Facebook is harmless, but others aren't. AOL is a sick joke ready to crash anytime, creating alarms that could raise heart attack risks in individuals who always want to read what AOL editors put on about Facebook. This nastiness has better stop.

Hahaha. Funny. Almost as funny as adults actually using Facebook... Give me a break.
