Skype 2.0 for iPhone Brings Skype-to-Skype Calling Over 3G
Skype 2.0, the latest iPhone (and iPod touch) version of the popular VoIP software, landed on the App Store this weekend, bringing along Skype-to-Skype 3G calls and speed enhancements. No huge surprises here; the upgrade to 2.0 went smoothly, and we had a 3G Skype-to-Skype call up and running a few seconds after opening the app for the first time. The local AT&T connection struggled, but the 3G call still worked as advertised.Skype explains 3G Skype-to-Skype calls will remain free until the end of the year (and then require a mobile subscription), and calls from Skype to regular phones will begin being charged in August 2010. All Wi-Fi Skype calls will remain free, but stay tuned as the mobile pricing plans get worked out in the coming months. [From: Skype, via Engadget]
