ReclaimPrivacy.org Scans Your Facebook for Privacy Holes

Reclaim Privacy Facebook Scanner
If you're anything like us, all these recent changes and revelations about your privacy on Facebook has you up in arms. But perhaps you're not quite ready to go cold turkey and delete your account. Maybe you're content to simply lock-down your profile using Facebook's privacy and security settings. Sadly, navigating those tools can be a tad confusing, with Instant Personalization, application permissions, what you share, what your friends can share, who can see your photos... so many different options, all in separate menus.

Thus, the basis for ReclaimPrivacy.org. The site is home to a bookmarklet that will scan your Facebook privacy settings and alert you to any that might be inadvertently sharing information. Simply drag it on the site to your bookmarks toolbar, log-in to Facebook and click on it. The tool also includes links to fix your settings, but in our quick test, they didn't seem to be working. According to ReclaimPrivacy, it never actually looks at your Facebook data and will not share information. Since the scanner is open source, anyone (with a knowledge of programing, at least) is free to check the claim. [From: ReclaimPrivacy.org]
