Man Takes PC in for Repair, Forgets to Leave Child Porn at Home

Daniel Wagner MugshotAfter a virus left his computer in disrepair, 46-year-old Daniel Wagner of Sheboygan, Wisconsin did what most people would do; he took it to a store to get it fixed. Unlike most people, however, Daniel Wagner keeps a lot of child pornography on his PC. You can probably guess where this is headed.

Apparently completely oblivious to the fact that underage porn is, um, illegal, Wagner waltzed into his local Best Buy, laptop in tow and collection on full display. Not only did Wagner have a hard drive full of kiddie porn, he actually set one of the illicit photos as his desktop wallpaper, as well. Because he's a normal human being, the technician working on the computer was startled by the image, and attempted to change the background because he was in a public area of the store. When the repairman opened Wagner's 'My Photos' folder, though, all he could find was... more child porn. According to Sophos, police recovered 67 photos in total, featuring children ranging in age from 3- to 12-years old, and promptly arrested him when he came to pick up his computer Friday.

Officially, Wagner has reportedly been charged with 14 counts of possession of child pornography. Unofficially, he's been charged with 100 counts of giving us the chills. It's one thing to be dabble in illicit, disgusting online fare. It's quite another to be so disturbingly unaware of how twisted your behavior is. He could argue, of course, that the virus infecting his computer was responsible for the porn, as some have successfully done in the past. But assuming he really is as sick as his mugshot would suggest, he's probably headed for an extended sabbatical in prison. Which, we can all agree, would be be best for all involved. [From: Sophos]
