At last week's Wireless Technology Park 2010 extravaganza, developer NTT DoCoMo debuted a prototype of
what Engadget is calling an "e-mail generator" (video after the break). Apparently, a user needs to provide the e-mail wizard with no more than three words before a message, tailored for the user's relationship with the recipient, is automatically rendered. The tone, between man and woman, casual and formal, is edited. Let's say that you want to wish your ailing employer a speedy recovery, but don't want to spend any time or thought in doing so. Just address an e-mail to your boss (who, we presume, you need to have identified as such in your contact list), and type, "Feel better soon." The ol' lazywriter will spit out something like: "Dear Jimmy, I am sorry to hear of your condition, and hope that you feel better soon. Please let me know if I can help in any way. Sincerely, Johnny B. McSloth."
If you ask us, this device, more than any other, automatically generates the true message of Internet-age egotism by saying: "I'm too important to spend my time writing something that you are, in no way, too important to spend your time reading. You're welcome, a**hole." [From:
