Pizza Joint Waitress Fired for Trashing Customers on Facebook

Brixx Pizza
At this point, we find it hard to have sympathy for people who get fired because of something they posted on Facebook. It's like touching a hot stove -- you know not to do it and it will hurt if you do. But for some reason, people just haven't learned.

According to the Charlotte Observer, a UNC-Charlotte student was fired from her waitress job for complaining about restaurant customers on her Facebook profile. Nearly a week ago, a couple had a three-hour lunch at Brixx Pizza. Their leisurely lunch caused Ashley Johnson to work an hour late, and on top of that, they only left her a $5 tip. Johnson felt that was unfair and vented on Facebook. "Thanks for eating at Brixx, you piece of s--t camper," she wrote on her profile. Days later, the restaurant's management called Johnson in and fired her for violating two company policies, which included "casting the restaurant in a negative light on social networks."

The 22-year-old Johnson claims she didn't think a small comment would cause such a big stir. If that's true, they're not teaching kids anything in college these days. Posting to Facebook is a very public act, even if your privacy settings are tight. And readers certainly can't say we didn't warn them. [From: the Charlotte Observer
