'Running of the Bulls' Gets Electrified in Incredible Table-Top Game

Running of the Bulls
If there is one thing that we've learned here at Switched over the years it's that, while video games may be fun, moving the mechanics of console fun into the physical realm is often far cooler. That's why we're so taken with this electromechanical 'Running of the Bulls' table-top game, inspired by the pre-console games of the mid-20th century .

Using a small motor, a timing belt and a collection of servos, this game from Greg Borenstein and Scott Wayne moves a row of bulls towards a character who must dodge the horned beasts. As the character -- controlled via an arcade-style joystick -- moves forward, the bulls also shift from side to side. Borenstein and Wayne will mount a small CCTV behind the character so the player can play the game in third-person view on a screen. So, what's the 'game over?' Getting impaled by a bull, of course. Check out additional 'making of' photos and videos on Flickr. But, before you do that, check out the video of the beast in action after the break. [From: Tisch ITP, via: Make]
