Google to Stop Taking Nexus One Web Orders

Google, while proud of the innovations the Nexus One brought to the market, admitted that the Web store had "remained a niche channel for early adopters." It's no surprise that consumers want to try out a cell phone before buying it, especially since they will likely rely on that handset for at least a year or two. That issue is compounded by the high, unsubsidized price of the Nexus One. Few consumers are willing to shell out $529 for a cell phone sight unseen.
Those who would prefer to buy direct from Google will have the ability to do so online for a little while longer. But once the Nexus One arrives in your local Best Buy, you can expect the Web store to shut down for good. [From: Google Blog]
