Airport Security Stops Pakistani Flyer Over Massage Shoes

Yet that's exactly what one Faiz Mohammad did Monday evening, while boarding a plane from Karachi to Oman. As the Daily Mail reports, Mohammad was stopped by security workers after triggering the alarm system at Jinnah International Airport. Upon examining the Pakistani construction worker with a scanner, officials discovered that each of his shoes (of the Good Vibrations therapy type) contained a small circuit connected to two AAA batteries. Mohammad reportedly told investigators that he had absolutely no idea that his kicks were wired, claiming he bought them from a street market in Karachi simply because he wanted to enjoy a pleasant foot massage during his flight.
Ultimately, Pakistani law enforcement officials determined that Mohammad did indeed buy the shoes for purely therapeutic, non-malicious purposes, and, according to the AFP, released the passenger after extensive questioning. That's reassuring, because as Marsellus Wallace taught us, there's nothing messier than overreacting to a harmless foot massage. [From: DailyMail and AFP]
