E-mail Spam Celebrates Its 32nd Birthday, Why Television Is Still Going Strong

There's a load of great tech news happening out there every day, and, unfortunately, we just can't cover it all. Here are a few of the other noteworthy things we saw today on our never-ending journey through the wild, wild Web.
  • Hard to believe, but e-mail spam is well on its way to the big four zero. Obnoxious, all-caps spam is well past the big three oh. Thirty two years ago, Gary Thuerk spawned the very first spam e-mail written in glorious all caps. Thanks, Gary. [From: Geekosystem]
  • Here's one for the commute: Despite our media experience being more fragmented then ever before with time shared across cell phones, computers, slates and more, television is thriving. The Economist takes a special look at the boob tube's resiliency in the digital age [From: The Economist]
  • George Lucas's drew much of the 'Star Wars' trilogy from legendary director Akira Kurosawa's films. 'Samurai Wars' brings it all full circle by imagining 'Star Wars' characters as action figures from Kurosawa's Imperial Japan. [From: Sillof's Workshop]
  • The onward march of software development has been a godsend for the tech-minded among us who get to play 'free tech support' for distant friends and family.
