A British man has patched together a Frankenstein car that's just as green as the monster itself. According to The Daily Mail, Buzz Knapp-Fisher's 'Womble Truck,' named after a kid's TV show about recycling, is
made from the parts of 21 different vehicles, and runs entirely on french fry fat and vegetable oil. Knapp-Fisher, a sculptor and environmentalist, purchased the original wrecked frame for about $386. Then, he began adding parts from a 1960s Morris 1000, a 1970s Mini, a Ford, a Reliant Robin, an MG Midget, a Vauxhall Viva and a Volvo 740. The result was a 'green' car that resembles a post-apocalyptic Rolls Royce.
Knapp-Fisher says the biodiesel engine will easily power the car up to about 80 mph, and, if conditions are right, it can reach speeds of 110 mph. He saved so much money on fuel last year that he was able to buy a battery for his next project -- an electric car. "The aim of the exercise is to apply the different methods of moving around, but proving to people that you don't need oil," he told the Mail. We're fine with Knapp-Fisher campaigning against crude oil. But if he starts trying to take away our frying fat and vegetable oil, there's going to be trouble. [From:

This is a novelty, but nothing new. Has everyone forgotten the Chev-AM-Volks-Chrys-Wagen built for, I believe , New York Life back in the late 70's ? It was toshow they would insure just about anything that rolled.

That car you are thinking about was the Manufacturers Hanover Trust "AnyCar" that was used in their television commercials for auto loans. It was displayed for several years at the New York International Auto Show & no one seems to know whatever happened to it.

So when do we start singing that Johnny Cash song "One piece at a time"?

If Obama reads about this he will have this guy come over to the USA and apply his skills with GMC. We all could be driving one of these some day. Some how this car kind of sums up what Obama has done to this country if you think the car above isn't screwed up.......

You know, running a car on renewable fuel is a good thing...
If you're worried about the cars' looks, there is no car company that will produce a car like that. It'll look nice and new and run on vegetable oil.
If you have a hidden agenda:
1. er... Your propositional logic is all funny. I'll call it ad nonsensium.
2. Please, encourage things that are new and helpful to YOU.
3. Obama calling anyone to support this is a GOOD idea, unless the emissions proves otherwise.
4.Enjoy your Obama-style budgeting. Budgeting with swagger. A government should practice firm modesty, as should businesses.
Worried about people producing their own oil? What do you say to Hydro-electric? Water as an output? Companies and Corpies will still thrive, I mean, they do have the money to adapt.

the monster didn't have a name, it was dr. frankenstein, the guy who created the creature. :P

I appreciate the man's efforts here, but I would be embarrassed to ride in that thing. It makes the truck in "Beverly Hillbillies" look like a Rolls Royce.

That "car" looks as good or better than a lot of the junk coming from the Big 3 in Detroit during the '70's & '80's!
All things considered, I'd say he did a hell of a good job!

Train locomotives use a small diesel engine to run a much larger electric motor to power the locomotive. Why does a car maker not reduce the size of the engine and motor to fit in a car and you have an electric car that does not need to be recharged. Talk about saving fuel.

Shush you! Too much common sense!

All red would have made this car better looking. Also, ditch the dolls and all the other stuff decorating the car.

I thought the car was cool. I saw one about 20 years ago that a man made to run on pig and chicken poop. He cooked it to give off methane gas then compressed it into a tank like lp gas. Very economical. There's also a guy in Longview,Tx that turned a Pento into an electric car using the starter motor from a big jet. An oil engineer in Abilene,Tx made an ele.one he uses everyday. I even made a car from parts from about 30 cars back in '58. Mine only madeabout 2 mpg so it was not very green,Oh ya, I've still got it. Happy trails.
