Scott Adams, the creator of the iconic Dilbert comic strip, recently found himself in a major scheduling dilemma. He desperately wanted to run a strip about the recent Gizmodo-iPhone 4G saga, but his publishing schedule would only allow him to run them on June 18th, at the absolute earliest. Adams, therefore, decided to completely bypass his routine, and published them
exclusively on his blog, for the enjoyment of the entire world. And, as usual, both Adams' deadpan wit ("You run a technology blog? That's a coincidence because I sell other people's belongings."), and his sharply tuned contextual awareness ("Can we agree to call this a clever marketing ploy?") are both on full display.
Taking a page out of Tina Fey's book on Sarah Palin, Adams based the two strips entirely upon the story that's been established in the media, without much embellishment or exaggeration. And that's exactly what makes them so satirically effective. We'll probably never know what really happened that fateful night at the beer garden. But, as Adams reminds us, "I'm in the parody business and not the truth business." [From:
