Streaming Baseball Games Come to PlayStation 3 With MLB.TV Deal
For the first time ever, gamers will be able to stream live Major League Baseball (MLB) games on their Playstation 3 consoles. According to The New York Times, Sony announced Wednesday that it had reached a deal with MLB.TV to bring live baseball games to the PS3 -- the first such deal by any console manufacturer. For an annual fee, you can watch hundreds of out-of-market games as soon as the end of this week. Local games and many others that are broadcast on TV won't be available, though. There's no word on how much it'll cost, but, for PC users, an annual subscription is $99.95, and a monthly subscription $19.95. We'd expect a similar price range for the nearly 12 million PS3 users that Sony says are eligible to subscribe. If you're an Atlanta Braves fan who lives on the West Coast (and also owns a PS3), this package is nearly a steal. There aren't many other ways you'll get to watch your team play, and this deal is less expensive than the baseball packages offered by many cable and satellite providers. So, fire up that PS3 and play (or, rather, watch) ball! [From: The New York Times]
