Robotic Fridge Equipped With Gun, Arm and Boombox

People seem to love robotic refrigerators, and it's probably because they combine two of the best things on Earth: beer and bots. While this droid that an employee at Make found won't get any points for style, it certainly carries out its function. Built by a dog-sitter named Shawn, the Drozid is a mini-fridge mounted on what looks like the chassis of an electric wheelchair. On top of the cooler, there's a boombox, laser scope-equipped BB gun, and a robotic arm, which can hand you a cold one and your change.

Katie Wilson, a media designer for Make, sent an e-mail to the Web site after she was greeted by the robot one afternoon while picking up her dog. "Last week, I rolled up to pick up my pup, and there was no sign of Shawn. Then, lo and behold, I see this little gem rolling toward my car, cold beer at the ready, blasting something indiscernible, change for my $20 clamped in its Armatron grip," she wrote.

There's a video here that shows the Drozid cruising around Shawn's place. It maneuvers around obstacles with ease, and it even plays some soccer (if you can call it that). All that's impressive, but as long as this bot could maneuver from the kitchen to our couch, we'd say it's doing its job just fine. [From: Make]
