What would you do for a free meal? According to BBC News, the
Crowne Plaza Hotel in Copenhagen is
giving guests a $36 meal voucher if they ride an exercise
bicycle for 15-minutes -- or until they produce 10-watts of electricity. This program, which launches April 19th, will not only reduce the hotel's carbon footprint, but it will keep guests healthy. An
iPhone that shows how much power your legs are generating is attached to the bike's handlebar. If the cycling program is a success in Denmark, a hotel spokesperson told the BBC News that the program would be expanded to Crowne Plaza Hotels across the UK.
This isn't the first we've heard of
stationary bikes being used to generate power. But it's certainly one of the more unique (and
'green') hotel accommodations we've ever seen. It should catch on, too, since according to the BBC, Copenhagen is one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in the world -- with 36-percent of its residents commuting on two wheels each day. [From:
