Highlights from this morning's other big tech headlines....
- At last month's SXSW extravaganza, Digg CEO Jay Adelson outlined a dramatic, upcoming site redesign that, he said, would represent the culmination of five years' work. Now that the project is almost complete, Adelson is apparently feeling some wanderlust, as he has announced his imminent departure from the site. In a blog statement, Adelson expressed his gratitude to fans, and said he feels a need to heed the "entrepreneurial calling." From: Digg]
- The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Microsoft will introduce a new Verizon smartphone next week that will attempt to capitalize on the youth demographic by incorporating "social networking services." Rumors indicate that the phone has been simply dubbed the 'Pink' project, so perhaps Microsoft has learned a lesson from the disastrously named Windows Phone 7 Series. [From: Textually]
- Apple certainly isn't resting on its iPad laurels, as the company has already announced an April 8th press conference to discuss the future of the iPhone. During the 1 p.m. EST event, Apple will focus on iPhone OS 4.0, allowing consumers a "sneak peek of the next generation of iPhone OS software." [From: Engadget]
- Palm's bizarre and bland ad campaign last year significantly creeped out consumers and overwhelmingly prompted negative attitudes toward the company and its smartphones. Palm has now reportedly, and thankfully, dumped Modernista, the firm responsible for the drab spots, and is pursuing other publicity options. [From: Engadget]
- The size and the specific functions of the iPad have inspired a slight bit of consumer confusion over just what exactly the gadget should be labeled: computer or handheld. The Transportation Security Administration is reportedly harboring those same doubts, as security personnel haven't been quite certain whether they need to scan the gadget or merely let it pass through as they would a typical phone. - Apple has updated its App Store to clearly and effectively ameliorate the shopping experience. The site has now added a split tab function so that consumers can immediately select whether they want to browse the iPad offerings, or those for the iPhone. [From: TUAW]

Jay Adelson leaving Digg just one month after such an announcement is surely a blow to everyone at the office and their momentum but Kevin Rose is a smart guy so he will figure something out.
Microsoft naming a phone "Pink" is just slightly better than the Windows 7 phone but still a terrible name.
