Windows Phone 7 Drops 'Series' From Name, World Rejoices

We've been pretty excited for Windows Phone 7 Series since it was announced earlier this year. We've not at all been excited about having to say the full name (much less type it out) every time we mention a device running Microsoft's upcoming mobile OS. Thankfully, Microsoft heard our complaints prayers. The company has announced, via the official Windows Phone Twitter account, that it's dropping 'Series' from the name and adopting the much less cumbersome 'Windows Phone 7.'

The change will have no impact on anything else; it's just making the lives of bloggers, journalists and fans much easier. And, for that, we extend an enthusiastic "thank you" to the girls and boys in Redmond. [From: Twitter, via: Engadget]
