Letterman and Colbert to iPad in Late-Night Lambastes: 'What the Hell Is It?'

David Letterman embraced his role as the crotchety, technologically illiterate uncle. He stared at the device like an ape examining a monolith and shook it like an Etch-a-Sketch before licking it in an attempt to turn on the screen. Later on, Letterman dedicated his nightly top-ten list to "questions to ask yourself before waiting in line for the iPad," including the all-important, "what the hell is it?"
Stephen Colbert also took one out during his show. The pseudo-con, who clearly has Steve Jobs on speed dial, listed off the amazing capabilities of the Apple tablet, which apparently include the ability to make "delicious salsa." Stephen didn't let the iPad off the hook completely, though, as he pointed out its many similarities to the iPhone; they share "the same touchscreen technology, the same apps, and, just like the iPhone, you can't make calls with it."
We think it's safe to say that the iPad will probably be the last Apple device Colbert gets early. Check out the videos after the break. [From: Geekosystem and Mashable]
