U.K. Man Who Built Flamethrowing Scooter Gets Arrested

Motorcycle enthusiast Colin Furze, who recently became known for attaching a flamethrower onto the back of his scooter, was arrested in England last week. According to the Telegraph, Lincolnshire police noticed the publicity surrounding Furze's creation -- reminiscent of something from a James Bond film -- and arrested him for suspicion of possessing an object converted into a firearm. It's an accurate description for this modified scooter, which spits a 15-foot flame out of its back with the press of a button on the handlebars.

Before his arrest, Furze jokingly told the Telegraph that he came up with the idea to ward off tailgaters. Mission accomplished. However, Furze was also warned that operating this vehicle on a public road would result in trouble with local authorities. It looks like he not only ignored that warning, but was bold enough to let the press take pictures of the evidence. Furze was released on unconditional bail and has a court date scheduled for May 6th. Let's hope the judge is a 007 fan, or, at the least, has a sense of humor.
