Seton Hill University Giving Out iPads Like They're iPhones`
The iPad hasn't even landed in consumers' hands yet, and Pennsylvania's Seton Hill University is already promising to give one to every full-time student, starting in the Fall of 2010. This is in addition to the 13-inch Macbook the school already hands out to incoming freshman. (Justifiably, the 2,000-student Catholic college has a reputation for being extremely Mac-friendly. In fact, its IT department repairs Macs in house, and has a stock of loaners to hand over while yours is being fixed.)

Clearly, the university's plan is to have the iPad used as an electronic textbook. If combined with the iBook store and iTunes U, the iPad could prove to be a legitimately powerful educational tool. But here's the rub: the iPad also has access to a vast well of time-sucking games, and, as with many first-generation products, is sure to have its fair share of bugs. We guess that Seton Hill doesn't have a problem with turning its entire student body into guinea pigs for Apple. [From: Seton Hill University, via: TUAW]
