This trend suppresses the need to achieve and rewards those that exist by forcing those that excel to share their rewards from their efforts.

Capitalism and individualism wanes and dies in the forced equality of socialism.

When the education system is produced and managed by those that have no experience in starting and running a business or in researching and inventing new solutions for problems, socialism is thier only mantra. Education is far too important to implement as a solution to day care. The costs for the care givers may seem low (teachers work for comparatively low salaries), but the long term costs to society and the under-achieving children that become the future voters is very high!

I see no hope of reversing the above in the U.S. With these trends strengthening, perhaps someday we will be allowed to join the European Union or become a Chinese province.

At least the founding fathers have long since died before seeing hope for their great dream disappear.

One sad senior citizen.

mlaneor

Comments on U.S. Drops Shamefully to Fifth in Most 'Networked' Countries List

What a bunch of nonsense! So please do not say that the USA is not ranking higher due to too much socialism! In general Swedes has an average higher level of education. The country invests a lot in broad band and the number of personal computers are higher that it is in the US. Higher education is free and a diploma from a Swedish high school counts as the same level as the first year of college in the US. Almost all schools in Sweden are public. Sweden does not have a poor class like in the US that lacks basic health care, good day care for working parents and health care is universal. Swedes are healthier that their US counter parts and to a lower cost per capita.

Gunn-Britt

iwiebke

Comments on U.S. Drops Shamefully to Fifth in Most 'Networked' Countries List

It's really sad when socialist countries ( like Sweden and Denmark) beat America in fast Internet connections, I blame socialism too since I am an old person that have medicare and social security and don't need the evil government for anything.

ebleyes

Comments on U.S. Drops Shamefully to Fifth in Most 'Networked' Countries List

You have medicare and social security, but you're against socialism and you don't need the government for anything?
