Foam Football Wii-mote Gives New Meaning to Armchair Quarterback

The kickoff to a new football season is a long way off, but gamers can still get a virtual fix on their console of choice. Nintendo Wii owners have a leg up in the realism department, though, thanks to the system's motion-sensing capabilities -- and, more recently, thanks to a new controller from CTA Digital that literally puts the ball in your hands. According to Gizmodo, this soft foam add-on for the Wiimote allows righties or lefties to experience the thrill of delivering a real pigskin. Just place the controller into the slot, slip on the wristband, grab hold of the foam football, and do your best Brett Favre impersonation. It's compatible with games like 'Madden NFL 10,' and a few others, too. Unfortunately, there's no word on pricing or release date yet.

Admittedly, you might look a little foolish holding this peripheral. But, the ball's gripping grooves could save your flatscreen one day; we all know the Wiimote can become a dangerous projectile if you suffer from the condition known as 'butter fingers.' [From: Gizmodo and CTA Digital]
