MOG Unveils Unlimited $10 Music Downloads for iPhone and Android
Today in Austin at SXSW, MOG CEO David Hyman unveiled the music streaming company's new methods of bringing music to mobile devices. For $10 a month, MOG users will get unlimited streaming and downloadable songs (of which the company currently offers over 7 million) to their iPhones and Android phones. With Apple having recently purchased Lala, Rhapsody continuing to grow, and the much-heralded Spotify eventually getting a U.S. release, the music streaming market is starting to get crowded. The popularity of Last.fm and Pandora reveals that music fans are increasingly comfortable and excited about adopting non-traditional ways of listening to music. Simultaneously talking up his own service and taking a shot at Pandora, Hyman said, "When you listen to Bob Marley radio, it's not Bob Marley inspired radio. You get Bob Marley 24/7." MOG does let you listen to the specific track you're seeking (unlike Pandora), but it also (like Pandora) offers customizable radio stations based on artists and genre.
Your online account will sync with the mobile app, so that you'll be able to access any online playlists, friends, and other information on the go.
