Woman Successfully Sells 'Souls' on Online Auction for $1,983

At a recent online auction in New Zealand, two glass vials containing neon blue liquid sold for $1,983. Oh, and they also contained ghosts.

As we reported a few days ago, an anonymous person originally placed the two vials up for auction last week, claiming they contained the souls of an old man and a little girl, both of whom used to live in the sellers' current house. Now, after the winning bid was confirmed, the person's identity has been revealed as one Avie Woodbury, who, a week later, is still sticking to her story. Woodbury claims, in apparent seriousness, that both souls were captured during a routine spring exorcism at her house, and that the little girl ghost first appeared after what could've only been an absinthe-addled round of Ouija. After the exorcist pulled the spirits out of the woodwork, Woodbury managed to bottle them in respective glass vials, which she then dipped in holy water -- since, as everyone knows, that "dulls the spirits' energy."

We're no psychoanalysts, but selling ghosts is... strange. Perhaps stranger, though, is the sap who shelled out nearly 2 grand for what looks like well packaged mouthwash. According to the AP, though, Woodbury isn't pocketing all of the Casper cash for herself; she's planning to give all of it to an animal welfare group -- after, of course, she deducts the requisite "exorcist's fee." As for the lucky winning bidder, his or her identity hasn't been revealed -- but we have our suspicions. [From: APNews; via: io9]
