I am not aware of any public studies attempting to answer the question of whether or not the frequencies used by wi-max can induce biological changes in humans and other living things. Based on currently available data on other, lower-frequency microwave exposures (i.e. cell phones), we have sound reason for concern. Until such safety studies are carried out, this proposal should be off the table.

josh

Comments on FCC Considering Free Wireless Broadband as Part of National Plan

I agree that there is a serious health concern about wireless, but it's not clear to me whether a proposal like this would increase or decrease the amount of radio energy being poured into the air. I live in a small town and my laptop shows eight wireless networks available in my house. In a large city or apartment building I imagine one finds dozens. If there were some sort of government-run wireless access, perhaps there would be only one or two.

flaps

Comments on FCC Considering Free Wireless Broadband as Part of National Plan

What are you talking about? What frequencies are you referring to? The television white space frequencies we have been using for decades? Radio frequencies we have been using for decades? Why now? Why not shut down tv and radio (frequencies used by broadband/wireless/wimax)? Or, is that your proposal?

Tom Poe

Comments on FCC Considering Free Wireless Broadband as Part of National Plan

That is exactly why America will fall to 2nd place "Ignorance!" the first two posters are the symbol and the root cause of our destruction.
