Locker Room Thief Snatches Cell Phone, Texts 500 Times in One Day

If you're going to send a ridiculous number of text messages, you had better make sure of two things: first, get an unlimited plan, and second, make sure you're sending them from your own cell phone. Failing to do either will certainly get you in a heap of trouble.

Case in point, according to an Associated Press report on Huffington Post, an Iowa City man swiped a cell phone Friday from a locker room at a local gym. There's mistake number one. But 21-year-old Christopher Smead didn't stop there. He also sent about 500 text messages from the phone in just one day. Police arrested Smead soon after and charged him with fifth-degree theft because he sent the text messages without the owner's okay. When Smead was arrested, he was also carrying an air pistol in the main library at the University of Iowa. So, the massively dumb criminal was slapped with a misdemeanor, and after a failed court appearance, Smead plead guilty to all charges and is serving 30 days in jail.

There are two hard-hitting questions to be asked: Who did he send so many messages to? Why was he carrying an air pistol? In instances like these, we've learned to just let go. Asking why dumb criminals act this way is like asking why roosters crow -- they just do. [From: Associated Press on Huffington Post]
