British Bishop Taking Prayers Via Facebook and Text

The religions of the world have had no choice but to enthusiastically embrace technology. The Dalai Lama is now on Twitter, the same social network that hosted the Passion story for a NYC church, Jews can Tweet prayers to the Western Wall, and there is even a Web service that will do your praying for you. So when Bishop Robert Evens, or Bishop Bob as he's known, was in well-tread territory when he began accepting prayers via Facebook, text message, and e-mail at his congregation in Devon, U.K.

Every day until the end of Lent, March 13, Bishop Bob will be passing on those prayers to the man upstairs during a two hour silent prayer service at 11:30 a.m. "I want to encourage people to pray," he told the Telegraph, and hopes that by using social networking he can make it more accessible.

The U.K. based faithful can search Facebook for Bishop Bob's Prayers (we couldn't find it), become a fan, and ask him to say a prayer for you. [From: Telegraph]
