Facebook Facing Lawsuit Over Privacy Issues, Backflip Gets Official on AT&T

Highlights from this morning's other big tech headlines....
- While Facebook's membership continues to expand, the site's success has been somewhat marred, at least in the media, by a never-ending brouhaha over privacy issues. The site is now facing a California class-action lawsuit, in which five Facebook members are claiming that the site erroneously announced that its updated privacy settings would increase users' ability to control their information. - Motorola introduced its Android-based Backflip last month, and the fledgling phone will officially become AT&T'S first venture into the Android marketplace. The AT&T Backflip will be available starting March 7th, and will cost $100, after a $100 rebate, with contract. [From: Engadget]
- Recent visitors to Wikipedia may have noticed the banner urging people to help support the communal encyclopedia. The Wikimedia Foundation (the non-profit organization that actually operates the site) has now attracted at least one huge donor, Google, which has given $2 million to help maintain "one of the greatest triumphs of the Internet." - Earlier this week, Sarah Palin openly criticized the show 'Family Guy' through her Facebook account, and yesterday she continued slinging barbs when she dismissed Twitter as that "little twittering thing." That definitely seems a little patronizing and hypocritical considering that Palin is an avid social networker, and frequently uses Facebook and Twitter to criticize her detractors. - A Cessna twin-engine plane crashed into an empty day care center in Palo Alto, California yesterday, killing three Tesla employees who were on board. The plane was registered to senior engineer Doug Bourn, but officials have yet to officially release the names of the victims. [From: Tech Crunch]
