'My Pet Speaker' Makes Your Playlists Pet-Friendly

Like blasting loud music in your house? Well, that's fine for for your eardrums, but what about the pets that live with you? Like babies, their ears are a little more sensitive to noise. But don't worry. There's a way for you to listen to your favorite jams without making Fido or Socks uncomfortable.

It'll cost a chunk of change ($250, to be exact), but My Pet Speaker produces limited, pet-friendly frequencies and softens the bass in order to make sure resident animals aren't bothered by your tunes. According to CNET, the sound system also disperses sound in 360 degrees, which is apparently closer to how animals hear in nature. The speaker stands about one-foot high, and is mounted on a, supposedly, stable base so that it won't get knocked over by any dancing pets or people. Plus, the buttons are positioned on the back so that critters won't bump into them and skip tracks. Best of all, it'll work with iPods, CD players, iPhones, and any other device that'll connect to the 1/8-inch input jack.

Look, we love our pets as much as anybody, but this might be taking things a little too far. If you're playing music so loud that your cat or dog scurries to hide under the couch every time you approach the stereo, it's probably a good idea to just turn down the tunes. Trust us; Lady Gaga will sound just as good at a lower volume (and better since you'll actually hear the bottom end). [From: CNET News, via: Engadget]
