After a woman recently found her boyfriend's cell phone filled with not-so-subtle
sext messages like "Booty call," she, understandably, sent him packing. As it turns out, though, he didn't write them.
Apparently, some workers at Virgin Mobile thought it'd be super hilarious to pre-load a bunch of sexts into someone's phone. The butt of this lame joke, unfortunately, was one Darren P. of Winnipeg, who tells the
Winnipeg Free Press that he was flabbergasted when his girlfriend accused him of cheating. "There's things I believe about relationships," Darren says. "The first is that if you are in a relationship, you don't cheat." Following the breakup, he launched a crusade to clear his name, a quest that eventually caught the attention of a Virgin Mobile sales associate in Winnipeg. A careful investigation revealed that several phones from the same store had in fact been loaded with similar messages, something that Darren finds abhorrent. As he says, "I'd like to see the phones recalled and the messages taken off, so that others don't have to go through the hell I'm going through."
While every other philandering boyfriend with a Virgin Mobile might be celebrating their new, gift-wrapped alibi, we'd like to see these phones recalled, and, more importantly, Darren "taken care of," as one Virgin sales rep said. And once that's done, we'd like to see Darren get over this lady. Snooping around phones, Darren? Really? She may be a great person, but if she's really digging around to spy on you, this might be the best blessing in digital disguise ever. [From:

In the age of social media, college athletes have it rough. Unlike pro athletes, these undergrads aren't getting paid millions, but they're under just as much scrutiny. Sometimes, they just can't handle the pressure, and with help from a cell phone, their mistakes get plastered across the Web. Of course, scandals are like catnip to us here at Switched, so we dug up a few of the more embarrassing examples of recent memory. Read on....

Matthew Stafford's keg-carrying antics.
While a freshman in college in the Spring of 2007, former Georgia quarterback Stafford spent a drunken weekend at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama, impressing co-eds with his ability to hoist a beer keg above his head. It ended up online. Surely, the 19-year-old didn't drink any beer first....

Former Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn's crotch grab.
Notice how frightened the two guys on the left look. Then, there's Quinn. The former Fighting Irish star is all smiles and appears comfortable in the classic 'crotch-grabbing pose.' As you can see from this March, 2007 apology, Quinn remained what's-the-big-deal casual even after the image broke.

USC defensive end Everson Griffen and linebacker Jordan Campbell rabble-rousing on Nantucket.
Griffen and Campbell were having the time of their young lives in Nantucket this past July, until police cited them and friends for 'breach of peace,' with the ensuing photos debuting on brobible.com and spreading around pretty quickly after that. That's not even embarrassing part-check those swim trunks.

Nebraska wrestlers Paul Donahoe and Kenny Jordan appear on gay porn site
When pictures of these guys surfaced on a gay porn site, chaos and anger swept Cornhusker Nation. At least the two guys got paid for posing for these images!

USC linebacker Rey Maualuga dances on ESPN reporter Erin Andrews
Maualuga won't be on 'Dancing With The Stars' any time soon, but he fulfilled many a man's fantasy with this awkward dance, which made the rounds thanks to YouTube. After Andrews' peephole video, this clip seems tame.

Is this Florida quarterback Tim Tebow's girlfriend?
It's the greatest debate the Web has seen -- is this voluptuous brunette the girlfriend of the 'Golden Boy?' No one can or will say. But Tebow does look pretty happy, as he should.

UNC center Tyler Hansbrough jumps off roof into pool
By jumping off this fraternity-house roof last year, 'Almost-Famous'-style, Hansbrough certainly lived up to his college nickname-'Psycho T.' It's a safe bet Michael Jordan didn't try this during his college years. Either way, blogosphere-bound sports fans ate it up.

USC track star Jennifer Mueller knows her way around a beer bong
She's athletic, blond, tan and can funnel beer with the best of them. What more could a man ask for in a woman? Some dignity – and some discretion on Facebook, where these pics were found in July by National Lampoon's Splog -- might not be bad, either.

Northwestern University women's soccer team hazes players, photos ensue
After photos hit the Web in May, 2006, a night of drinking, hazing and some light bondage proved not to be as fun for these female athletes as it might sound. Let's just say Northwestern was none too happy.

also remember this was a random joke from a cell phone store and it only happened to a few people, I am sure she didn't assume "oh this text is from the virgin store as a joke". lol. logic people.

Do you all realize what the jist of the story is about? It it was not written about the woman snooping. That is what the virgin sales rep, commented on to divert peoples attention away from the real problem which was the sexting that was put on peoples phone without any say so. And for you to fall for those comments that werent even facts is ridiculous. This is not high school, quit worrying about someone elses relationship just cause your not happy with your own or dont have one! What was done by the employees at vigin mobile was very wrong, snooping or no snooping!
RebaFeb 13th 2010 11:59AM
I can honestly see it from both angles. In a country of men that the majority are not faithful, when you find one that is, it's hard to believe that he isn't seeing other women. Not saying that she was right to snoop, but the reasoning behind her snooping is, "if he's too good to be true, he probably is" but if you have that kind of insecurity, you shouldn't be in a relationship to begin with. If she were phone savvy, she would have found phone numbers or at least names either at the top or the bottom if it was a REAL text message and not a pre-made response by a phone company for quick text. It is also my suspicion that she likely knew it was not a real text and just wanted out of the relationship and used his phone having this feature as an excuse. And as others have already said, she wouldn't believe the truth if that wasn't the case, and if it is the case, it's because she knows what the truth is. Get a new woman, Darren, and don't go back to someone who is that quick to drop you like a bag of dung.
KathyFeb 13th 2010 12:30PM
Hey, she must have had some reason to not trust him. Sure nobody wants their privacy invaded. He had nothing to hide and it is unfortunate the phones were pre-loaded. If the g/f can't get over it, then dump her. If she doesn't trust him it's probably because she has been cheated on more than once.
FPaicely236Feb 13th 2010 12:40PM
I hope this person reunites with his girlfriend. If your relationship was solid, and she believes in you, it will be ok. Also, I warn people about what they put on facebook, etc, Hacks can invade your privacy so easy on the internet. I like the internet as a learning tool for me, but some people use it for cruelty. Good luck

If a girl has doubts about a guy, and snoops on him and doesn't find anything, it can set her striaght. Been there, done that. There's nothing wrong with poking around a little. Either a girl will find nothing and everything will be great, or she'll find something, and it's a damn good thing she checked. How can you trust someone if they can't be open and share everything with you?
EdFeb 13th 2010 2:06PM
I can see it now...... passwords, PIN's, voice codes, fingerprint and retina scanners (lol) to protect against snooping and unauthorized cell phone use. He's probably better off without her though...... and to switch carriers.
DennisFeb 13th 2010 2:13PM
If she broke up with, what is obviously, a loyal boyfriend with no evidence other than a text message. It was only a matter of time anyway.
pbihomesFeb 13th 2010 5:39PM
She probably wasn't doing him and he needed relief.
MartieFeb 13th 2010 5:52PM
Guys, guys, guys! Trust is built on the assumption that nobody is doin' anything wrong! If something reaches out and slaps you in the face, you don't ignore it and say, "Couldn't be my guy! I trust him!" Grow up!
VirginmobileuserFeb 13th 2010 7:50PM
Why is everyone focusing in on the fact that the woman split with her boyfriend? The article is concerning someone had pre-loaded text messages onto his phone and the person who was the victim of this is wanting to clear his name. The ex girlfriend needs to eat crow and listen to the ex boyfriend. Though I do agree, it is apparent that she has some issue dealing with fidelity and trust and should address them as soon as possible.
Been there, done thatFeb 14th 2010 7:03AM
I am really pissed about everybody going off on the woman because she might have been snooping. No wonder no one stays married anymore, with bonehead advice floating around like that. Snooping is NOT the HORRIBLE CRIME every guy on this board thinks it is. ( What are you all, like 12?) Jeez Louise, in this day and age you sometimes have to watch your back. I bet all the guys bitchin' would be the first to look through his lady's things. I am happily married for over 15 years. My husband and I are good together, and treat each other with respect. But if he wants to go through my stuff, I laugh, and let him. It seems too many men (and a lot of women) these days are too hot for fight. "Dump the bitch for snooping through his things" What kind of sick childish way of thinking is this? Some people are too stupid to be married. Also, Way to a happy marriage? Don't listen to your idiot (single) friends.

Every person that has a Virgin mobile account should deluge the company with
complaints. Screwing with peoples private lives can be a very dangerous road
to follow, yet nobody seems interested in finding the basterds who did this. One
can only hope the courts won't find it funny, or perhaps the wrong guy that has
no conscience, no sense of humor, no girl friend now, nothing left to lose and a baseball bat.
noksutauFeb 14th 2010 9:51AM
Just wanted to see if anything I type ever gets through the screeners.
kcdgeniusFeb 17th 2010 10:15AM
the woman dumped the guy because of ascii code stored in the memory chip of an electronic communcation device, NOT because the guy was unfaithfull.
HER mistake, and HER lose. If she did not believe the guy when he told her "I dont know where those text messages came from" then SHE has issues.
Reality trumps an overactive imagination every day. The woman is an airhead.
chaos3364Feb 19th 2010 10:55AM
If it was a new phone, I understand why she would be looking through it - new gadget interest and all. She probably wasn't snooping, just flipping through stuff and opened up the messages folder.
However, her reaction is rather extreme, since he had only had the phone (I can only assume) at most for several days, so Darren may be well off with another... less crazy girlfriend. If they were together two and a half years (according to the linked article) and she throws him out this readily, he's better off.
