After a woman recently found her boyfriend's cell phone filled with not-so-subtle
sext messages like "Booty call," she, understandably, sent him packing. As it turns out, though, he didn't write them.
Apparently, some workers at Virgin Mobile thought it'd be super hilarious to pre-load a bunch of sexts into someone's phone. The butt of this lame joke, unfortunately, was one Darren P. of Winnipeg, who tells the
Winnipeg Free Press that he was flabbergasted when his girlfriend accused him of cheating. "There's things I believe about relationships," Darren says. "The first is that if you are in a relationship, you don't cheat." Following the breakup, he launched a crusade to clear his name, a quest that eventually caught the attention of a Virgin Mobile sales associate in Winnipeg. A careful investigation revealed that several phones from the same store had in fact been loaded with similar messages, something that Darren finds abhorrent. As he says, "I'd like to see the phones recalled and the messages taken off, so that others don't have to go through the hell I'm going through."
While every other philandering boyfriend with a Virgin Mobile might be celebrating their new, gift-wrapped alibi, we'd like to see these phones recalled, and, more importantly, Darren "taken care of," as one Virgin sales rep said. And once that's done, we'd like to see Darren get over this lady. Snooping around phones, Darren? Really? She may be a great person, but if she's really digging around to spy on you, this might be the best blessing in digital disguise ever. [From:

In the age of social media, college athletes have it rough. Unlike pro athletes, these undergrads aren't getting paid millions, but they're under just as much scrutiny. Sometimes, they just can't handle the pressure, and with help from a cell phone, their mistakes get plastered across the Web. Of course, scandals are like catnip to us here at Switched, so we dug up a few of the more embarrassing examples of recent memory. Read on....

Matthew Stafford's keg-carrying antics.
While a freshman in college in the Spring of 2007, former Georgia quarterback Stafford spent a drunken weekend at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama, impressing co-eds with his ability to hoist a beer keg above his head. It ended up online. Surely, the 19-year-old didn't drink any beer first....

Former Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn's crotch grab.
Notice how frightened the two guys on the left look. Then, there's Quinn. The former Fighting Irish star is all smiles and appears comfortable in the classic 'crotch-grabbing pose.' As you can see from this March, 2007 apology, Quinn remained what's-the-big-deal casual even after the image broke.

USC defensive end Everson Griffen and linebacker Jordan Campbell rabble-rousing on Nantucket.
Griffen and Campbell were having the time of their young lives in Nantucket this past July, until police cited them and friends for 'breach of peace,' with the ensuing photos debuting on brobible.com and spreading around pretty quickly after that. That's not even embarrassing part-check those swim trunks.

Nebraska wrestlers Paul Donahoe and Kenny Jordan appear on gay porn site
When pictures of these guys surfaced on a gay porn site, chaos and anger swept Cornhusker Nation. At least the two guys got paid for posing for these images!

USC linebacker Rey Maualuga dances on ESPN reporter Erin Andrews
Maualuga won't be on 'Dancing With The Stars' any time soon, but he fulfilled many a man's fantasy with this awkward dance, which made the rounds thanks to YouTube. After Andrews' peephole video, this clip seems tame.

Is this Florida quarterback Tim Tebow's girlfriend?
It's the greatest debate the Web has seen -- is this voluptuous brunette the girlfriend of the 'Golden Boy?' No one can or will say. But Tebow does look pretty happy, as he should.

UNC center Tyler Hansbrough jumps off roof into pool
By jumping off this fraternity-house roof last year, 'Almost-Famous'-style, Hansbrough certainly lived up to his college nickname-'Psycho T.' It's a safe bet Michael Jordan didn't try this during his college years. Either way, blogosphere-bound sports fans ate it up.

USC track star Jennifer Mueller knows her way around a beer bong
She's athletic, blond, tan and can funnel beer with the best of them. What more could a man ask for in a woman? Some dignity – and some discretion on Facebook, where these pics were found in July by National Lampoon's Splog -- might not be bad, either.

Northwestern University women's soccer team hazes players, photos ensue
After photos hit the Web in May, 2006, a night of drinking, hazing and some light bondage proved not to be as fun for these female athletes as it might sound. Let's just say Northwestern was none too happy.

Isn't this how Tiger's old lady caught him?
This is why God created trial lawyers.
lking4trblFeb 13th 2010 9:22AM
If she's snooping she wouldn't believe the truth if it bit her. She was looking for a reason not to trust Darren. That's sad for her because it sounds like Darren is a good guy and there aren't many of those around.
The people that loaded the phones with those messages should be fired. It's inappropriate and an abuse of position.
robertFeb 13th 2010 9:49AM
Never fight what comes your way. It could be a blessing. God give you what you need what you do with it is your choice. By the way Darren is your girl friend fat?
JayFeb 17th 2010 7:20AM
And if God sends something your way with the purpose of having it fought and defeated?

He's better off without a mistrusting bit** like her anyway. The foundation of a healthy relationship is NOT, "don't cheat", idiot; it's trust.
GraydonpowFeb 13th 2010 1:36PM
At least now he can save money by not having to buy the bimbo a Valentine's Day gift!
AgathaFeb 13th 2010 10:07AM
Wait.....what about the girlfriend who senses her guy is cheating and checks his phone??? Every single one of my friends who "sensed" her guy was cheating and went through the phone were right. Guess God gave us this 6th sense and it worked! BTW....it works on guys too!
StacyFeb 13th 2010 10:10AM
Who said she was snooping? Maybe she found the messages while doing something else on the phone. If my husband read my text messages I would not consider it snooping. Then again I have nothing to hide.
ashleymreyna85Feb 13th 2010 12:57PM
I agree with you my boyfriend can read my message I have nothing to hide. I think the men who cause these issues should be fired.

Stacy, honey the only thing a person should be doing on a phone that belongs to someone else is, making a call. Should not be checking incoming/outcoming calls or texts. She was being noisy and it bit her in the A$$. He is better off without her. As they sometimes say " If you are looking for fault in someone else, it is usually because you have fault(s) yourself". Being noisy may have cost her one of the best things that has happened in her life
MsBFeb 13th 2010 1:18PM
It could have been innocent. He could have left the phone and was texting her to tell her to bring it, maybe her phone was busy, or he could have been expecting an important call and asked her to check his cell, him being unaware of the bad texts because he was a good guy.
I don't fault her for "snooping," as much as her for breaking up with him without having really good proof.
anyway, they are probably both better off without each other.
wayneFeb 13th 2010 10:28AM
I agree with Jude Thom. She is an untrusting, snooping and prying witch. This is a portent of things to come. You do not accidentally stumble into this type of material on another’s personal phone. The incident definitely spells out trouble in the near future if he stays with this undeserving woman.

BLAMING THE WOMAN FOR CHECKING HIS PHONE , IS SAYING ITS OK FOR THE EMPLOYEES TO FK AROUND AT OTHER PEOPLES EXPENSE , SHAME ON YOU AMAR

This is crazy people losing jobs and girl friends now over a phone. Good lord maybe we should just go back to having one on the kitchen wall. This is crazy to the umpteenth degee. A phone has become a hazard to your health and well being. Know really who would have thought it would come to this???????
Joe A.Feb 13th 2010 11:00AM
This is terrible of the phone company and it should compensate Darren. As for his snoopy girlfriend, he is better off without someone like that. He doesn't need a jealous, grouchy woman like that who inspects his phone. If she checks that, you can be assured she is going through his other stuff too. Suspicious minds...
psyops3000Feb 13th 2010 11:09AM
Thats real nice that Virgin is going to fix the problem, does that include firing the idiots that put these messages on the phone? Virgin, stop trying to divert the conversation to the mans girlfriend and deal with your own issues. Maybe she is not the right one for him, but that would be his decision, not yours.
Krista484Feb 13th 2010 11:12AM
wow, lol. I guess there is alot of guys commenting on here who think it would be okay to have messages like that and be cheating and it's fine! hahaha, they just think it is wrong cause they probably got caught that way. Honestly, the girl could have been doing anything on the phone, what if hers died and she needed to use his to call someone and a "sext" just popped up? My boyfriend went through my phone not too long ago cause he has trust issues from his exes and I didn't mind. People who have nothing to hide usually don't mind.
And if she was snooping, some girls have reason to do that. We don't know the back story so saying she is a bitch just makes you look like an ass.
AdmiralLee01Feb 13th 2010 11:11AM
I check my fiance's phone, but mainly it's to see his calendar. Plus his friends send him jokes and I like the jokes so I check them sometimes for a good laugh. Sure, I'm a bit nosy but if I see a text that concerns me I talk to him about it civilly.
Let's not go blaming her, maybe he told her to check is phone and she came across it, I mean, on my fiance and I's phone, under the name of the sender is the beginning of the text in the mail box. For all we know she may have been checking his sent messages for something he sent her and that she had deleted by accident, I've done that before. She could have been programming his phone for all we know.
Hopefully, they can work it out and if not, I wish him and her find someone who makes them happy and for the workers who programmed that stuff into the phone to get reprimanded.
