Astronaut Sharing Space Pics via Twitpic, Biggest Oscar Sci-fi Snubs

There's a load of great tech news happening out there every day, and, unfortunately, we just can't cover it all. Here are a few of the other noteworthy things we saw today on our never-ending journey through the wild, wild Web.

• '2001: A Space Odyssey' is widely considered one of the greatest films of all time, yet Stanley Kubrick lost out for the '68 best director Oscar to Carol Reed. io9 counts down nine other Academy legendary sci-fi snubs. [From: io9]
• The U.S. National Archives landed on flickr earlier this week, adding thousands of historic photos to the photo sharing site's 'The Commons' archive. You'll find everything from the Nixon and Elvis shot at the White House to Ansel Adams and during the Civil Rights March in D.C. [From: flickr]
