IE: I have a niece and 2 nephews, ages 5, 3 and 6 months. I'm just plain old not going to sit them down for Star Trek 09, or Grindhouse which I've got on rental. I'm going to ask them what they want to watch, and stream it from Netflix if they have it. The flipside to this (and why this method works so well) is that there's alot of content I'm not going to rent in the forseeable future but still might want to see; there's alot of things I don't want to "waste" a rental on when I get watch it via streaming and give a disc slot to something that deserves Blu-Ray instead.

Level 5

Comments on Over Half of Netflix Viewers Too Lazy to Walk to the Mailbox

They're right about that. I live in a cul-de-sac and our mailbox is halfway down the street. I I am too lazy to walk way down there for a movie unless I'm driving home and stop by it. But on my off days, forget about it. I'd rather stream them on my blu-ray player which I spent 200 bucks for. But on Netlfix, they have the worst movies and the old movies only for streaming and all the best and newer movies still on DVD. So I have to wait for the mail to see these. Just forget about the mailing portion of Netflix and have all the movies streamed to TV.

stacey

Comments on Over Half of Netflix Viewers Too Lazy to Walk to the Mailbox

Wouldn't have anything to do with unemployment now would it? I still get most of our movies by DVD but there are reason other than walking to the mailbox for getting them streamed online. First of all, not everyone lives in the suburbs and has to walk to a mailbox. Many many people get the mail put thru their door slot or left by the front door of the appartment building. So extra walking is not involved. Secondly, there is the time factor in waiting for a DVD to get back to Netflix and a new one sent back. And Thirdly you have a choice of only 2 to 5 movies on hand to choose from which doesn't always work out well when you have multiple viewers in the household, friends visiting and you need to find a common movie, or you are in a different mood from the movies that were put on the list ad then sent to you. Fifth, There is also nothing more frustrating than to get down to the last few scenes in sent DVD and find that the DVD has a flaw and you can't get your player to show the end of the movie or you have to skip several important nonviewable scenes. DVDS, like CDs, are an outdated media that was never as good as made out to be. Sixth, there is also the factor that postal rates are rising, and to keep costs for Netflix (and thereby the cost for my subscriptions) down, I'd like to switch to streaming instead of the mail (which was nonexistent for several days during our last big blizzard).
Blaming it on laziness shows a total lack of technical knowledge and looks lke another AOL cheap headline grab.

atp

Comments on Over Half of Netflix Viewers Too Lazy to Walk to the Mailbox

Let's keep the Postal Servicxe in business!!!! And, netflix recently signed an agreement with Warner that it would not make any of the releases available for 30 days after Warner released the product to the public.
