I have no plans to buy an iPad. Granted, the iPad may look great, be lightweight, and run for a long time on a single charge. I have been waiting for this device since years, but never expected that it will arrive with processing capabilities, and a touch screen, and being a windows operating systems fan, from computers to mobile, I never expected that this will come from apple first, so, yes, lots of people are not expecting much from the iPad, , but a big screen which acts as a true colored book, in your bed , with most computing abilities (instead of the black and white kindle or the laptop fan burning your belly and it screen aching your neck from improper position), I am pretty sure, thatthe iPad, and following similar devices will change history, more than the TV did.

Ahmad

Comments on 'Magical' Realism: The iPad Fantasy and Reality Check

I am sorry to inform you but Apple is not the first to do this. Everything that the Ipad will do I was able todo years ago on my Tx1100 from HP to read books all you have to use is Zinio reader granted I used a pen to turn pages instead of my fingers. I could also multi task and run MS OFFICE ful version. Please understand the Ipad is a cute toy at best but dated tech in realality. Nothing earth moving. If you want to see a nice e-reader with great abilities check out the Entourage Edge it is a great duel screen e-reader that for no extra cost can edit and create office docs. Oh and the price $499.00

Rudy

Comments on 'Magical' Realism: The iPad Fantasy and Reality Check

Like everything everything else that Apple makes, it looks good and probably dose a lot,but there are flaws beneath that sleek exterior. Like the article said, it could do a lot more, and dosen't for more than what you pay for a Kindle or a Nook. And the service? Let's face it, Apple's biggest mistake was teaming with ATT in the first place. It's another over-hyped device on a sub-par network, essentially a notebook sized iTouch, and a waste of money for anyone that already has an iPhone or iTouch. There is nothing to set them apart.

Shawn

Comments on 'Magical' Realism: The iPad Fantasy and Reality Check

It's supposed to bridge a laptop and smartphone, yet it leaves out the key functions of both, camera, phone, access and and MS apps?

Jim Gerity

Comments on 'Magical' Realism: The iPad Fantasy and Reality Check

Here's a question I think will be interesting to know the answer to. No Flash, No SD Card slots, No User Removable Battery, No REAL Keyboard, $499 to around $800 (Depending if it has a 'Wi-Fi' or 'Cellular' hookup) Must Deal with a 'I-Tune' Styled Site and Pay APPLE'S PRICES. Heck, for $350 I have a lightweight 250gb 17" laptop with built in 'Wi-Fi' and a Telephone Modem. I have a REAL Keyboard of the option of a ON-Screen Keyboard. I can Play or Copy Cds or DVDs. I can go to ANY Source for Programs, Music, Books, Etc.. I have SD slots and an EXCHANGEABLE Battery (No AC Plugs, No Problem - Save Program, Shut Down Laptop, SWITCH Battery and I Can CONTINUE Working, Reading, Browsing, Etc..). To me the 'I-Pad' is just a overpriced Tech Device to place o a COFFE TABLE. I'll pass.

Pks29733
