New Motorcycle HVAC System Adds Cooling, Subtracts Coolness

air conditioned motorcycleIf you're a motorcycle enthusiast, you know and accept that sometimes comfort must be sacrificed for power and style. Like, when it's 98 degrees outside, and you're stuck in traffic wearing a leather jacket. Or, when it's 28 degrees outside, and you're getting frostbite while zipping down the highway on your bike. Entrosys hopes to offer riders more comfort with its new motorcycle heating and cooling system. (It's debatable how your bike will perform with that chunk of machinery strapped to the back, let alone how cool it'll look).

According to Engadget, the device straps onto the back of your bike and connects to the battery for power. You wear a custom black vest, which connects to an air tube that delivers a gust of hot or cold air to the torso. A wireless remote clips on the bike's handlebars so that you can easily adjust the vest's temperature while riding down the road. All the while, your body should stay toasty or cool, depending on the weather.

The system is a novel idea, but we're not sure how many burly, tattooed bikers would be willing to ride around with a hose sticking out of their jacket and this thing strapped on the back of their Hog. Besides, riding a motorcycle isn't about being comfortable. It's a statement about being tough and cool. At least, that's what we learned from 'Easy Rider.' [From: Engadget]
