CNN's 360 Camera Puts 'You' on the Ground in Haiti

CNN Uses 360 Camera To Put
Sometimes, technology can actually bring us closer to our fellow man, rather than isolate us, as critics often claim it does. Google illustrated this perfectly by using constantly updated imagery from powerful satellites to give us perspective on the scope of the destruction in Haiti. Now CNN, with the help of Immersive Media, is offering the same unfiltered glimpse into the tragedy, from a closer angle.

The news network posted three 360-degree videos that take you through the traffic-snarled street, the impromptu tent cities, and the blocks of collapsed buildings. As the video progresses you can click and drag to look in any direction. The special camera, developed by Immersive Media, produces an impressively seamless image that puts you as close to the ground as you'll get without volunteering and actually heading off to Haiti.
