Group Sends 600 Talking, Solar-Powered Bibles to Haiti

As our military and aid organizations scramble to deliver much-needed food and clean water to Haiti, other groups are also sending goods they deem necessary. Like, according to Reuters, 600 solar-powered, talking Bibles to the island nation. The Proclaimer broadcasts a Haitian Creole version of the Holy Word in digital quality audio to 300 people at once. According to the Faith Comes By Hearing Web site, the Bibles will bring Haitians the "hope and comfort that comes from knowing God has not forgotten them through this tragedy."

Look, we aren't here to trash anybody's faith. In events like this, it certainly is a positive thing. But a talking Bible doesn't feed hungry mouths. These people don't even have a place to rest their heads at night (and we're sure the Proclaimer won't make for a good pillow or roof). Sometimes folks' good intentions miss their mark by a little bit. [From: Reuters on Yahoo! UK, via: The Awl]
