Panasonic Breaks Largest TV Record by Two Inches, Dethroning... Panasonic
It seems like only yesterday, but it was way back at CES 2008 that Panasonic debuted its now positively quaint-looking, 150-inch, "world's largest" TV. Since no one else was challenging its record-sized commercially available television, Panasonic took it upon itself to up the ante, announcing a new 152-inch set and breaking its previous record by a whopping two inches! At over 12 feet and over 4,000 pixels across, the 152-inch Full HD 3-D PDP is an absolute beast of a display. And as the name implies, it does 3-D, as does every other new set this year, it seems. The PDP uses plasma technology, instead of LCD, which should mean smoother motion and better contrast -- extremely important in a TV of this magnitude.
We don't have any photos of the set just yet, but don't worry; we'll be swinging by the booth on the showroom floor to get some shots of it in action. In the meantime, whet your appetite with the above image of the previous 150-inch record holder, courtesy of our pals at Engadget. [From: Engadget]

I saw this on TV a while ago while I was also drafting my research paper before going to school. I will be happier to see photos of the newest life-size TV set on earth... and perhaps be the happiest people in the world if I would get to own one. My only dilemma perhaps is where am I going to put this one at home.

You can bet your bottom dollar that you will be crushed to death trying to score one of those big babies on Black Friday.

Good grief.

I was told that a LCD television last longer than the plasma. They said a plasma TV can last up to five years. I think I understand why this 150-inch TV had to be made with plasma technology for better contrast, but I'm happy with my LCD 52-inch TV anyway. I suppose no one from the middle class can't afford it anyway.

"At nearly 12 feet"? Twelve feet is 144 inches. 152 isn't "nearly" 12 feet?

Marty, television size is measured in diagonal inches from the bottom left corner to top right, so the television is less than 152 inches across. And if my math is correct (which it very well might not be) this would actually measure roughly 134 inches across and 70 inches tall.
