Newark Mayor Responds to Tweet for Help With Snow Shoveling

What's the quickest way to get a city government official to take action? A phone call? Or maybe a visit to city hall? If you live in Newark, New Jersey, it might be more effective to just send a tweet to Mayor Cory Booker.

According to Mashable, Ravie Rave, a Newark radio DJ, sent a tweet on New Year's Eve asking the mayor to dispatch somebody to help shovel snow from her father's driveway. She was working at the time, and apparently the 65-year-old man was hellbent on shoveling it with or without aid. Not five minutes later, Booker responded with this: "I will do it myself where does he live?" Yes, the man who runs the largest city in the state and has more than a million followers on Twitter drove to an elderly man's house, and with a few volunteers who noticed the exchange on the Web, shoveled and salted the driveway. Booker, a social networking superhero, and his friends even got the job done by noon.

Rightly so, Rave was thrilled by the situation. "Feel like shutting my office door and booty dancing... ," she wrote. It's too bad all mayors aren't like Booker. If they, we might be able to make those parking tickets vanish, or at least get that canyon-esque pothole in front of our house fixed. [From: Mashable]
