Apple Tablet Rumors Point to Mysterious 'iSlate'

People have been speculating about a so-called Apple 'Tablet' e-reader for years, so, as Wired stated way back in 2007, "Someone will eventually get the timing right." While those long-standing rumors have remained, a new wave of seemingly legitimate conjecture seems to indicate that the mythical creation might actually become a reality during 2010.

Multiple, reliable sources are claiming, despite no official word or verification, that Apple will hold a January 25th press conference in Santa Barbara, California. That predicted event, along with several other notable developments, is inspiring some analysts to place favorable odds on the Tablet's rumored announcement.

Perhaps the most significant development is the MacRumors discovery that Apple has purchased the rights to the domain name iSlate, which would make a pretty snappy name for the mysterious gadget. Apple has also filed for a patent on technology related to an "articulating frame" mutlitouch screen (or, a keyboard that can raise and lower protruding Braille-like bumps). Apple's stock value has also risen dramatically over the last week, a phenomenon that could be attributed to the Tablet's release rumors.

While this may just seem like more premature speculation, the latest rumors have indeed been based on fact and have been coming from numerous, diverse sources. But, if you throw enough mud at a wall (for three years, no less), some of it is bound to stick. [From: Engadget]

I wonder if the #mets realize they can't save the excess runs to use in a later game.
