Holiday 'Spam' Spreads $10K of Christmas Cheer

By now, we've all been conditioned to delete any molecule of spam that dares to so much as knock at the door of our inboxes-- and for good reason. With all the faux African princes and Viagra discounts bombarding us on a daily basis, our spam radars have become finely tuned enough to spot and annihilate these virulent mails from a mile away. This Christmas, though, one creative agency decided to play on this global spam-anoia to reward one daring client with a huge holiday bonus.

Proving once again that you should never judge an e-mail by its cover, the guys at the London office of Mother sent out a holiday greeting to all of its clients and contacts, offering $10,000 to the first person to respond. They couched it, though, in typical spam language and typology (lots of caps, claiming that "this thing is for real!"). Not surprisingly, then, they only got one response, and one gullible winner. Check out the video after the break to see the boys-who-cried-spam rewarding "the only guy who believes in Christmas miracles," and, most heart-warmingly of all, the Forward Nigeria charity to which he donates his entire holiday payday.
