A Depressing Pictorial History of the Infamous Apple Mouse

Apple gadgets have definitely been racking up the awards and accolades as the Aughts tick down. The company has been producing devices for over 30 years, though, and not every design has experienced the raging success of the iPod. One of those poorly-received items has unquestionably been the Apple mouse.

Even though Apple may have helped introduce the mouse to the personal computer, its cursor-controllers haven't exactly evolved to the degree that consumers expect from a technological leader. To remind everyone of Apple's infallibility, a guy with the handle of Raneko has compiled a gallery that traces the history of the Apple mouse.

The gallery of mouse evolution begins with the 1984 M0100 design, which looks like it was modeled after a garage door opener, and the retrospective also includes the infamous neon orb, which was apparently inspired by the Identity Disks of 'Tron.' Raneko's photo-journey finally culminates with 2009's 'Magic Mouse,' which, unfortunately, seems to be adhering to the principles of its beleaguered predecessors. [From: Flickr, Via Wired]
